The most annoying debuff in the game

The most annoying debuff in the game is the Unquenchable Flames from the Ignis trash in Ulduar.

Nothing else I’ve healed through in the game has bugged me quite as much as this debuff.

Overall, healing Ulduar is fun… but Unquenchable flames is not fun! Why?

First, you can’t stop casting to drink between trash pulls very easily. With the nerf to spirit’s out of casting regen, stopping to drink is not as minor of a deal as it used to be.

Second, if you res someone and don’t top them off fast enough, they could die again. It’s been known to target the person we were resing and kill them. Which is annoying because then they have another repair bill and require another res.

Third, it can take a LONG time before it can be cleansed in the water. It just bounces around and does a ton of damage to people for a long time. It is annoying mostly because it takes us a while to get through trash, and it’s a large chunk of time when you can only have limited drinking and you have to be constantly vigilant. It also makes the rest of the trash pulls harder, and the Ignis trash is really hard enough without it.

It’s not impossible to heal through, it just drives me crazy. :(

    We just strip off our gear and wipe on the next set of trash. Then we never see the debuff again for the run.

    Whats the range on it, we blow through the trash so fast that we dont even think about it. But couldnt you just have the person who has it get away from the raid fast so it cant skip and they can naked die?

    It’s a really short duration, so you can’t run away or spread out fast enough. For people that get through the trash slowly (and don’t suicide to remove it), it’s not really avoidable, and it’s really constant damage to at least one raid member for the whole time until you clear down to the water & everyone can go swimming.

    How many times have you run Utgarde Pinacle? There’s that annoying disease the abominations throw that used to be invisible. That was annoying.

    The best way I’ve found to deal with the flames is with the assistance of a mage. After the debuff is running loose, have the mage open up a portal out of the instance. Everyone huddle around the portal, and as soon as you contract the debuff, click through. When you arrive on the other side, the debuff will be gone and the rest of your people can summon you back. It takes a few minutes, sure, but it’s better than dealing with that blasted jumping fire.

    In the 10man version we used to just have a rogue use his cloak and we got rid of the debuff. Not sure I remember if we did the same in the 25man.

    Also I supppose Iceblock an Palybubble should work as well.

    I agree with you finding this debuff extremely annoying as a healer.
    The portal tip works though, you can do that with a mage & resummon, or just use the Ulduar free portals (aka the green circles on the ground that port you between the different parts of the instance).
    All hug a portal, as soon as someone gets the debuff, use it, then come back, it’ll be cleansed.

    Good news, this annoying buger is now remoed from the game.

    Killing the 2 giants does not give anymore this debuff (3.1.2).
