Infected wounds buff on the PTR: Updated

Here’s what showed up on mmo-champion:

Infected Wounds now reduces the movement speed of the target by 16/34/50% (up from 8/17/25%) and its attack speed by 6/14/20% (up from 3/7/10%).

I’m not sure this is actually something that would go live, especially if it’s up-time is going to be near 100%. If it does go live, this is going to make feral PvP a heck of a lot stronger, and make the talent worth picking up a lot more of the time. It’s not an official patch note, so it may just be something they want people to test out in the PTR… so, go start testing!

EDIT:  So, as the comments below state, this isn’t an overall buff to the final effect, it’s just doubling because it doesn’t stack to 2 anymore. The MMO champion wording is just funky out of context… Since it should have had the (doesn’t stack to 2 anymore) disclaimer attached. That’s what I get for trying to post about feral things without looking at the bigger context first. 😉

My bad. It’s not actually twice as good. It just has the full punch in one application, rather than being split in half.

Very interesting. This would be quite a change for PvP as you stated. I wonder if this continues to be a glossed over cure for the range bug in catform though. I also wonder if Thunderclap will be receiving a buff as well to match Infected Wounds.

  2. PaidObserver says:

    Given the earlier patch note:
Infected Wounds: The debuff generated by this talent no longer stacks and instead causes the full effect with a single application.

End result is the same as live, 1 stack vs 2 stacks.

  3. Ditto says:

IW did not receive a buff to the effectiveness, they just removed the requirement to stack it.

  4. Boize says:

Not only this, but previously MMO Champ posted that IW will not need to be stacked anymore, it’ll be a one-off application.

“Infected Wounds: The debuff generated by this talent no longer stacks and instead causes the full effect with a single application.”

If both changes do indeed go live with this, IW will be receiving a huge buff in 3.2.2, especially in regards to PvP.

It’s basically going from requiring two stacks of it to work at full effectiveness to 1. That’s nice, but it’s not that special. It probably would help in pvp some more than pve, but the long and short of it is that it’s not improving the overall effectiveness, just the quicker application to full.

Woops. Good catch guys. that’s what I get for trying to do a quick post between meetings on campus (where I didn’t actually have access to the PTR).

It might also be a bit misleading to call it a buff 😉

I have a sneaking suspiscision (that i have absolutely no proof for) that this was an attempt to ease up dispelling for healers in arenas. I beleive theyre changing up DK diseases somehow as well. If this goes live though, i think we’ll see an inadvertant buff. Maybe im just too cynical/paranoid.
