Happy 6.0 Warlords of Draenor patch day!

The 6.0 pre-patch with all the class and systems changes goes live today! Here are some resources for surviving patch day! Returning to the game after a break, or haven’t been following all the dozens of changes? No problem! Below are some helpful links for druids (with a couple bonus mage guides!). I’ll add more resources as they become available – many people are working on finishing & publishing their guides today. For example, wowhead is still working on finishing up their class guides today.

This new Balance rotation is a complete disaster. 🙁

Do you have recommendations for up-to-date addons that help? I feel like I need a very specialized Balance Bar addon as well as about 6 different weakauras to try to run it correctly, and I’m still not doing it correctly from what I can tell.

The Cyous Weak Auras 2 build seems to be the only thing working for balance druids, as far as I know. http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1589841-WA2-Eclipse-Bar-Enhanced-Lappee-amp-Cyous

So pretty much what I thought (a bar and approximately 6,000 different counters).

That “crash course” vid is either hilarious or horrifying. Not sure which. “It’s a simple spec” they say. Suuuurrrreeee. You have DoTs to refresh (only) in specific 2 second windows (and they don’t even mention re-upping Sunfire right before you hit zero), and a nuke that you’re only supposed to hit right before peak. Not when then BUTTON LIGHTS UP on a Shooting Stars proc, mind you. Unless you’re at 3.

Ugh. They need to throw the whole thing out and start over.

Edit: It also doesn’t help that Starfall is back to pulling everything in the same zone as you again, either.

So, at this point, the alternate DOT strategy is just simply to refresh the DOT whenever it’s going to run out – any time in the last 6 seconds the DOT is up. You can refresh moonfire any time that the moonfire button is available. You can refresh the sunfire button whenever it’s available. The video probably shouldn’t be encouraging only refreshing at the peaks, as that’s a more difficult thing to try and do. The bonus damage from hitting moonfire/sunfire at the peaks is really a negligible bonus for beginner moonkin.

I made a new blog post to explain the most basic building blocks that you have to master before you over-complicate things. 🙂
